Summary: We don't get the appeal of the cymbal-banging monkey. With that manic expression and cacophonic purpose, we'd sooner throw it away so that it doesn't traumatize...or kill...any kids.

History: A demon summoned by a Ouija board found its way into a toy monkey after killing its original summoner. After being bought at an antiques shop by a single father, it proceeded to torment the family as an omen of death.

Final Fate: The father attempts to throw it away, but his son brings it back home, where it causes the house to explode with them in it.

Powers/Abilities: Can cause horrible deaths with just one bang of its cymbals, possession.

Weakness: Cannot affect people wearing a special necklace.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-While it's as easy as not buying something so vile, this thing finally brings out the worst of that dang cymbal-monkey trend. These things are creepy enough, we didn't need one to prophesize our inevitable demises.

Trivia: -In what might be the most braindead example of executive meddling, this film was re-cut and edited into 1996's "Merlin's Mystical Shop of Wonders", a film (ostensibly) for kids. Admittingly, a lot of violence was toned down, and in the end Merlin prevents the monkey from exploding. Nevertheless, it's incredibly off that a story so dark (alongside a particularly Freudian story before it) would be even considered, especially one more than 20 years old by that point.
